Stephanie Mirkes
I have lived in Murrayhill for 14 years and have been on the MRA board for the past six years. I have been a professor at Portland Community College for 17 years and before that I managed a research lab at OHSU. Both of these jobs have given me valuable insights into working with people and meeting budgets.
I have been very involved with the MRA swim team beginning when my two children joined the program. I became the parent volunteer coordinator in 2013 and I work to help organize the home meets. My daughter has also been swimming with a club team for the past six years and I have been very involved with volunteering in with the club. I am a runner, tri-athlete, and a scuba diving enthusiast.
My initial goal in seeking a board position was to expand the scope of community programs for the benefit of all residents. As I began to look into different ideas, I sought out an understanding of the current budget and participated in the 2014 budget committee. As part of the review, I was exposed to what other recreation associations can do with their dollar. I implemented the flicks on the field program at MRA and have helped with other activities such as the Easter Egg Hunt and Turkey Trot.
We have a fantastic community and I have seen the fun our kids have participating in activities such as the triathlon and swim team. It would be great to continue to expand programming and activities to all members of the MRA.
Claire Paul
My husband and I moved into Murrayhill area 14 years ago. During this time I have been involved in several community and association activities i.e. serving as Chair on the MOA Compliance Committee, serving on the MRA Budget committee for 4 years and coordinating the Turkey Trot, Easter Egg Hunt and other MRA events
My business background is varied with skills primarily in Marketing and Insurance, holding licenses in Life & Disability, Property & Casualty, and Insurance Broker. As in-house Risk Manager for a Fortune 200 Company managing residential, commercial and industrial projects, spread across 200 entities. My expertise in loss prevention planning and strategy can support the needs of the Murrayhill Recreation Association and it’s homeowners by identifying risks, minimizing loss while controlling insurance costs and litigation fees.
Additionally, I have a background in sustainability following LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and USGBC (United States Green Building Counsel) guidelines. I believe this would also be an asset to the Association as we update and/or build community assets, public and community involvement and sponsored activities.
I am seeking re-election and as I feel my experience would be an asset to the Association and our community. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
